2017 Nissan Rogue recalls (5)
SEATS
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Nissan Rogue vehicles. The recliner joints on the lower seat frame for the rear seats may have improper welds. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems," and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat frames and replace any defective lower seat frames, free of charge. The recall began December 6, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

A warning ️ keep coming up. The only thing I can see according to manual is to take it to a dealership. My blind spot detection is flashing on when nothing is there. When it stops then it's no longer working at all. Every time I go to take it in the dealership is works correctly. My power windows are no longer working as they should either. There is a recall that looks like this same issue on Rogues but my VIN isn't included. When it's diagnosed at auto center nothing comes up even with the ️ showing.
- POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
"The CVT/drivetrain failed completely on May 28, 2026 at approximately 76,000 miles. The vehicle suddenly lost all drive power and came to a stop. Car is parked and completely undriveable. The failed component is the CVT transmission assembly — vehicle is available for inspection. Safety risk: Complete loss of drive power while operating a vehicle creates serious crash risk for driver and others on the road. Prior history: Nissan of Queens performed a CVT warranty repair on May 24, 2023 at 34,595 miles under Technical Service Bulletin NTB16-110Q for DTC P0776 — valve body was replaced. That bulletin requires a borescope inspection of the CVT belt before repair is complete. It is unknown if that inspection was performed. The vehicle passed three consecutive NY State safety inspections: January 2024, February 2025, and March 6, 2026 at 73,553 miles — only 2,546 miles before complete failure. Full maintenance history documented. No owner neglect. No warning lamps appeared before complete failure. Problem has not yet been confirmed by dealer as vehicle has not been towed for diagnosis. Nissan settled a $277.7M class action lawsuit covering 2014-2018 Rogues for this exact CVT defect. Nissan knew about this defect for years and performed an incomplete repair in 2023."
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Issue: Garage caught fire. All wood (trusses, joists, walls) were in tact. Estimated in tact amount=99%. The vehicle was completely consumed. The hood melted, plastic, seats, tires consumed. Car was not driven day of incident. Origin was attributed to garage. Cause was undetermined by fire department. Report does not today address the vehicle in any way shape or form. There is no documentation as to what was seen upon removing garage doors. Had the can already been consumed? Did vehicle initially encapsulate the fire prior to moving into garage structure? It is speculated that NHTSA part 573 recall report 22V-875 may be applicable when viewed from design engineering point of view and not strictly to only vehicles addressed by Nissan in that report. There were no prior warnings of any kind that foretold the ensuing events. I am trying to get the fire department to amend report to record stated belief of fire origin (vehicle) which is not today evidenced in the report and as per the stated opinion by one of the fire fighters. I am further insisting that the insurance company assign a forensic expert in evaluating the origin and cause of the fire. Nissan has not been notified to date. I am imploring NHTSA to take this apparent prior documented safety issue further beyond what has been concluded in order to prevent any future safety issues should it so be judged by NHTSA as the authority in these matters.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigate a potential defect affecting 2017 Nissan Rogue vehicles involving the sunroof drainage system. My vehicle has experienced repeated issues with the sunroof drain becoming clogged, which causes water to leak into the interior of the vehicle. When the drainage system becomes blocked, water enters the cabin and can soak the headliner, carpeting, electrical components, and other interior areas. This creates the potential for mold growth, electrical malfunctions, visibility issues, and other safety concerns. After researching this problem online, I discovered that many other 2017 Nissan Rogue owners have reported similar complaints involving clogged sunroof drains and water intrusion. The number of reported incidents suggests this may be a widespread design or manufacturing issue rather than normal wear and tear. I believe this condition presents a safety risk because water can damage electrical systems, airbags, sensors, and other critical vehicle components. Owners should not be expected to repeatedly repair a drainage system that appears prone to clogging and causing interior water damage. I respectfully request that NHTSA review consumer complaints regarding this issue and determine whether an investigation and potential recall of affected 2017 Nissan Rogue vehicles is warranted. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Driver door lock function not working properly. Door will not unlock using the push button or key fob function. Sometimes I have to open driver door through the back passenger door or getting in through the passenger door. While inside, driver door will not unlock and have to unlock door by rolling window down and opening from outside. Sometimes the door stays locked, door latch stays locked and causes door to not close.

Anytime the ac is on for longer than 10 min, it leaks water down the driver side panel onto the floor mats.

I have 2 different issues. One is the passenger rear door not wanting to open sometimes from outside sometimes from inside. Then sometimes it won't unlock and sometimes it won't lock. This issue started about 3 months ago. Second is my clock time both on the dashboard and the one where the radio/GPS shows it goes crazy from time to time. I just didn't know it was something we could report. This has been happening for about 2-3 years. When it happens it's always when I first turn on the car, it adds one hour exactly it always throws me off. Sometimes I have to check my phone to make sure. As I drive it take like 5 or so minutes then goes back to normal time on both clocks automatically. Sometimes it can be a couple months before it does it again, but has been consistently happening. I really haven't written down how often it happens.

Around 4:30pm on April 17, 2026 I got in my SUV in my driveway. Shut door and started the engine, heard a loud noise, looked in rear view mirror and saw the lift gate glass had blown out from inside the vehicle!

My driver side floor mats are soaked with water. While running the ac, water drips from the driver's side console onto the floor.

I told the dealership that there were recalls on my car, but because they can’t find it in the system they’re saying that there are no recalls. I did check the NHTSA website and the recalls are still not showing up, but AAA has me down for five recalls. I have all the information on them. I would like the dealership to at least look into them because I don’t feel safe driving my car..
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
CVT has failed....Drive goes forward reverse goes forward neutral goes forward always gives see drivers warning call maintenance and check manual ... transmission is burning so high the transmission fluid is evaporating.... I've called so many times to have fixed but when it has a warranty they wanted $115 times 3 because of three components in the tranny needed to be checked and I couldn't pay that so now it's a giant paperweight that is used fir storage that I pay 412.32 a month for that cannot be driven....it sputters shakes stutters jerks and slams something gear but will not go up any hill ...I believe that the transmission should have been recalled in this model as well ..

Vehicle: 2017 Nissan Rogue VIN: [XXX] Issue: Hood latch / safety latch failure Description of the problem: While opening the fuel door, I accidentally pulled the interior hood‑release lever. The primary hood latch released, but the hood remained mostly closed. I did not realize the hood was unlatched. When I began driving, the hood suddenly flew open. This indicates that the secondary safety latch failed to engage and hold the hood down, which is its intended safety function. . A failure of the secondary hood latches is a serious safety hazard, and the hood opening while driving created an immediate visibility obstruction and risk of a crash. What happened as a result: The hood flew open while the vehicle was in motion, blocking forward visibility. I was able to stop safely, but this could have caused a collision. Frequency: This is the first occurrence, but the latch mechanism may be sticking. Why this is a safety concern: Even if the primary latch is released, the secondary safety latch is specifically designed to prevent the hood from opening while driving. Its failure represents a critical safety defect. Request: Please document this incident and evaluate whether similar failures are occurring on 2017 Nissan Rogue vehicles.
