2019 Nissan Murano recalls (1)

  • BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Remedy: Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.

2019 Nissan Murano owner complaints (15)

  • UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Known issue with sunroof drains clogging and leaking into vehicle. Could Possibly cause electrical damage. The rear drains are clogged and are not accessible without removing interior trim/headliner to clear. A consumer should not have to spend $500+ to have sunroof drain lines cleared. Unknowingly, Back floor board was full of water and car was parked for multiple days. Upon opening the door, the moldy, mildew smell was overwhelming. I had to drive with windows down. When I returned home, that’s when I discovered the back floorboard soaked. I removed the floor mat and the backside was covered in mold. I can only imagine what is beneath the carpet or inside the walls due to this known leakage problem.

  • STRUCTURE

I am submitting this complaint regarding a manufacturing defect, specifically premature paint delamination of the exterior, factory-applied, Pearl White paint. The paint is lifting, bubbling, peeling and flaking exposing primer and metal. This damage did not result from impact, environmental exposure, improper maintenance, or misuse. The vehicle was inspected at a certified autobody repair facility and confirmed to be a factory defect. Nissan has declined to take responsibility for this defect despite the fact that this condition is a widely documented and recognized as mfg defect affecting Nissan vehicles across multiple model years. Images showing some of the damage are attached to this complaint.

  • EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Both headlight assemblies on my 2019 Nissan Murano have developed water intrusion inside the sealed LED headlight housing. The first headlight failed in March 2025 when moisture entered the assembly and caused the light to malfunction. The dealership diagnosed water intrusion into the sealed headlight assembly and advised that the entire unit must be replaced because the LED assembly is not serviceable. The repair estimate was approximately $2,400. The second headlight assembly has now developed the same issue, with visible moisture inside the housing. These headlights are sealed LED units with no replaceable bulbs. When moisture enters the assembly, the entire headlight must be replaced. This can lead to reduced nighttime visibility and potential headlight failure, which is a safety concern. The vehicle was purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned Nissan from a Nissan dealership, and I also purchased an additional extended “Gold” warranty at the time of sale through the dealership. Despite this, the headlight assembly failure was classified as “routine maintenance” and denied for coverage. Because these are sealed LED assemblies and not normal replaceable bulbs, water intrusion leading to failure does not appear to be routine maintenance. The fact that both headlights have developed moisture intrusion suggests a possible defect in the headlight housing seal. I am submitting this complaint so the issue of premature failure of sealed LED headlight assemblies due to water intrusion can be evaluated for potential safety concerns.

In addition, the contact stated that the steering wheel independently turned to the left or to the right. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where a front alignment was performed, and all four tires were replaced. The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a failed forward collision program. The contact was informed that the Forward Collision Avoidance software needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed of an unknown recall with a similar failure description; however, the VIN was not included. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. An unknown dealer was made aware of the failure, and an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

  • AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS

The contact owned a 2019 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH downhill around a bend, a deer was on the road and the vehicle struck the deer. The driver's side air bag and knee air bag deployed; however, the front passenger’s side air bag had not deployed. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The contact attempted to reconnect the driver’s side seat belt; however, the seat belt failed to connect. A Police report was not filed. The Insurance provider was contacted and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The Insurance provider towed the vehicle to a storage yard. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

  • UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I was on Interstate traveling 65 MPH. sounded like gunshot or explosion. I pulled over as soon as I could. Walked around vehicle saw nothing, I stepped on side of car to look at roof. The sunroof was shattered. I drove back home and noticed very fine glass falling into the car while I was driving

  • WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Regarding other, there is apparently an issue regarding the sunroofs in Nissan vehicles and severe leaking inside the car that causes issues regarding the flooring and possible electrical components. The second issue regarding the wheels is Nissan uses a term called "swollen lug nuts". They wanted to charge almost 1k to change the lugs and finally rotate my tires.

  • UNKNOWN OR OTHER

    Nothing happened

  • SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Emergency braking system activated without anything in front of the vehicle. EBS lighting on the dash came on and vehicle made a weird sound to stop. Has happened several times in the past month, most recent was today.

  • BACK OVER PREVENTION

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that on two occasions while in reverse, the camera turned blue and failed to operate as intended. The contact also stated that on five separate occasions, while in reverse, the camera failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,500.

  • FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

I was driving about 30 mph on an empty street when the car slammed on the brakes. The sequence was three beeps, then red warning message on instrument panel, then immediate hard braking to almost a dead stop. There was no traffic ahead of me or behind me. Had there been someone behind me they would have hit me. Had I been around cross traffic expecting me to clear, they would have hit me. Two Nissan dealers have inspected the forward emergency braking system and found nothing. Nissan North America will not authorize any additional work unless a dealer finds a problem. In addition to this big problem, there have been two times when a message that forward emergency braking was not available due to obstruction.

  • SERVICE BRAKES

I lost brake pressure at a red light today. I ended up pressing the brake all the way to the floor and kept rolling. The light turned green and I pressed the gas and the brake started working after that and has worked since. I started googling and I saw this was an issue in older Muranos as well. I do not want to take it in and spend a bunch of money on master cylinders, etc when it may not be the issue. Please investigate.

  • AIR BAGS,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

While traveling experiences slight vibration in which passenger side tire PULLED oncming lane, nonemergency brakes were applied not notification of crossing outside of lane, passenger side tire blew out, causing to hit a Culvert and all airbags deployed with passenger air bag off. The vehicle would not start.

  • AIR BAGS

Passenger detection sensor went out so air bags would not deploy.
