2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee owner complaints (15)

  • AIR BAGS

The Air Bag warning light came on after we got an oil change for our car.

  • VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 8 MPH through a parking area, the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. As a result, the vehicle traveled 100 feet before coming to a complete stop after colliding with two light poles and a tree. The air bags did deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact was transported to an area hospital by EMT and was treated for whiplash, hearing loss, and pain in his back and knees. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 101,000.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS

The air bag light comes on every now and then. It happened in my previous jeep and is happening in my dad's Chrysler Sebring car as well. I seen this problem with the airbag automatic deactivation when the warning light comes on in different vehicles but all from Chrysler motors.

  • ENGINE

Driving 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee with HEMI engine on the freeway and the car lost engine power causing it to rapidly slow. Was able to make it safely to the side of the freeway, although multiple cars had to avoid, and had the car towed to our mechanic. The mechanic stated that the car needed an entire new engine as there were issues with the timing chain that then caused issues to the surrounding valves. In doing research, as this car only has 98,000 miles and is always serviced, I found that Chrysler has already recalled the Challengers with the same 5.7L HEMI engines, but has not done so for the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee's. We are at a loss and looking at $8,000-$10,000 to get a new engine and pay for labor. Currently looking for an attorney or an existing class action lawsuit as if we knew there were problems, we would have done things ahead of time to prevent the engine failure. There was NO WARNING provided on this issue, but have now found multiple individual complaints about the same issue on the internet. Please advise.

  • UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES

I was driving to work and the light turned red and I went to press on my brakes and if they didn't budge at all even all my body weight on it I couldn't get it to stop I almost smashed into the person in front of me luckily I thought about the emergency break thinked heavens and that's still hardly stopped it

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while attempting to shut-off the vehicle, the vehicle remained on when the key was removed from the ignition. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and told the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 227,000.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

REFERENCE: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V200000 WHILE DRIVING, IF THE VEHICLE GOES OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE KEY FOB MAY FALL OUT OF THE IGNITION MODULE. WHILE STATIONARY, THE KEY MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH (WIN MODULE) PRIOR TO PLACING THE SHIFTER IN PARK. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE POTENTIAL FOR UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT AND COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

IGNITION MODULE. KEY COMES OUT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON WHILE STOPPED OR IN MOTION. LIGHTS ARE NOT COMING ON THE PANEL, TURN SIGNAL NOT WORKING, IF THE RADIO AND AIR CONDITIONER ARE WORKING THE LIGHTS GO OFF INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. IF THEY ARE OFF THE INTERNAL LIGHTS DO NOT WORK WHILE DRIVING AND UNSURE IF OTHER CARS CAN SEE ACTIONS OF DRIVER.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

WHEN JEEP IS STARTED AFTER BEING PARKED. WONT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. WHEN IGNITION IS TURNED OFF, ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN EVEN AFTER KEY IS REMOVED. ALL OTHER ELECTRIC COMPONENTS TURN OFF EXCEPT FOR ENGINE. SAFETY RELEASE BUTTON WAS PUSHED TO GET JEEP OUT OF GEAR, BUT WHEN PUT BACK IN PARK, IT GETS STUCK AGAIN. IS THERE A RECALL ON IGNITION SWITCH OR MODULE SWITCH THATS CAUSING THIS?

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

IGNITION MODULE PROBLEM VEHICLE RUNS WITHOUT KEY IN IGNITION

  • POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE

WIN MODULE FAILURE CAUSE CAR TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND NOT STARTING

  • UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

I'VE TRIED PASSING SMOG NOW FOR 5 MONTHS AND I KEEP GETTTING OB11 NOT READY. I'VE HAD MY CAR LOOKED AT AND SERVICED BY TWO MECH TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS - NOTHING COMES UP. WILL E HAVING THE ISSUE CHECKED ASAP AND WILL UPDATE ONCE OR IF I FOUND OUT CAUSE

  • POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER

IN DECEMBER 2019 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE V51 FOR AN SYSTEM UPDATE TO THE POWERTRAIN (POWER CONTROL MODULE). ON 1/30/20 I TOOK MY BELOVED JEEP TO PUTNUM CHRYSLR JEEP IN BURLINGAME, CA TO PERFORM THE UPDATE. ON 4/24/20 I WENT TO PERFORM A STAR SMOG AND I FAILED DUE TO OBD11 NOT READY (OXYGEN SENSORS). I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. I TAKE EXCEPTIONAL CARE FOR MY CAR AND DON'T HESITATE TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS SUPRISED. THEREAFTER, I TOOK IT BACK TO AND IT STATED THE SAME THING OBD11 NOT READY. ON 6/10/20 I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SMOG PLACE AND AGAIN FAILED DUE TO OBD11 NOT READY. I THEN HAD THE SYSTEM RESET. DROVE IT FOR OVER 40 MILES AND TOOK IT TO THE SAME PLACE FOR SMOG AND AGAIN OBD11 NOT READY. I SPOKE TO BAR AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE THIS OUT. I NOW HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE REF AND THEY NOTED THAT THEY CAN PASS ME DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF MONEY I'VE SPENT TRYING TO CORRECT THIS OBD11 NOT READY. I EVEN REPLACED THE UPSTREAM OXYGEN SENSORS FOR NO REASON. I HAD A DIAGOSTIC PERFORMED AND THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THIS OXYGEN SENSOR ISSUE?
