2024 Honda CR-V owner complaints (15)

  • SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

This is the third time this vehicle has experienced wheel lock-up during braking. The first occurrence was over three months ago, while one driver was driving alone. The second occurrence was about one month ago, with a different driver, and a passenger was present who also witnessed the wheels locking; no collision resulted those two times. Both involved the wheels locking during braking and a loss of steering control. On the third occurrence, on June 25, while driving on the freeway, the vehicle ahead braked suddenly. The driver applied the brakes and they initially responded, allowing the driver to slow and avoid hitting the vehicle in front. Immediately afterward, the wheels locked up and the driver lost the ability to steer or maneuver. The anti-lock braking system did not prevent the wheels from locking. Because the vehicle could not be controlled, it was struck from behind by a following vehicle. This defect has now occurred three times over approximately three months, with two different drivers, and has resulted in a collision. It is a recurring, dangerous loss of vehicle control.

  • SERVICE BRAKES,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I was pulling into a parking space at church. I had my foot lightly on the brake as the idle speed was sufficient to enter the parking space. When I pressed on the brake to stop the car completely the brakes failed and the car lurched forward about 10 ft and hit the church building damaging my front left bumper, buckling the hood and components behind the bumper.

  • FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Car was idling rough, then a couple weeks later all dash light warnings came on. Took to dealership, said fuel injectors 2 and 4 were bad

  • VISIBILITY/WIPER

The driver‑side mirror on my 2024 Honda CR‑V Hybrid Sport has a persistent vibration issue that affects visibility and safety. At speeds above approximately 65–70 mph, the mirror shakes noticeably, making it difficult to clearly see vehicles in adjacent lanes. This creates a significant safety concern when changing lanes, merging, or monitoring traffic. The mirror assembly was already replaced once by my Honda dealer, but the vibration has returned and is now worse than before. This indicates that the issue is not limited to a single defective part but may be related to the design, mounting, or structural stability of the mirror assembly on this model. Many other owners of 2023 and 2024 Honda CR‑V models have reported the same driver‑side mirror vibration problem through online forums and NHTSA complaints. The pattern suggests a widespread defect that affects visibility and could increase the risk of accidents, especially at highway speeds. Because this is a repeat failure that impacts safe operation of the vehicle, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue. The vibration reduces the driver’s ability to accurately judge surrounding traffic and creates a potential hazard. Please document this as a recurring safety defect associated with my VIN.

  • UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I am filing a complaint regarding a serious safety incident involving my 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid. On XXX, at approximately 3:00 PM PST, the moonroof of my vehicle suddenly exploded while I was driving on the freeway. At the time of the incident, there were no objects, debris, rocks, or other vehicles near my car that could have impacted the moonroof. The glass shattered unexpectedly without any apparent external cause. The vehicle was subsequently inspected by Honda Auto Center in Bellevue, Washington. Following their inspection, no evidence of an external impact, stone strike, road debris, or any other outside factor was found. Apart from the shattered moonroof, there is no other damage to the vehicle. Based on these findings, I believe this may be the result of a manufacturing or material defect. This incident has rendered the vehicle unsafe to operate. Continued driving causes the moonroof glass to crack further, increasing the risk of glass fragments becoming dislodged. As a result, I am unable to use the vehicle for commuting to work. Additionally, given the frequent rainfall in the Seattle area, leaving the vehicle parked outdoors in its current condition exposes it to potential water damage. Most importantly, this situation presents a significant safety hazard. There is a risk that glass fragments could fall from the vehicle while driving, potentially endangering me, my passengers, and other motorists on the road. The sudden failure of the moonroof itself was also alarming and could have caused a loss of concentration or control while driving. There were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms when this problem occured.

  • STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES

Driving a Honda 2024 crv hybrid ,I was pulling into a front row parking spot and braking and as the car just about was going to stop it surged forward turning in the direction I had just pulled in from and accelerated instead of continuing to brake . I kept my foot on the brake hoping it was stopping , but continued to accelerate running over a sign, then a light post and then through the plate glass frame of the building . Finally coming to rest as it fully entered the building . The vehicle then emitted some smoke from underneath and the building was evacuated. Fortunately no one was in the room at the time the car came through. No injuries thank goodness . No warning signals or any assistive braking was in play . Just my foot on the brake from the time I entered the parking spot . The vehicle was towed to a Honda collision shop where it will have a damage estimate done and then inspected by the car manufacturer. No analysis has been performed at this time .

  • STEERING,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Honda has made it extremely easy for thieves to steal the front radar sensor on all 2024 CR-V models. Mine was recently stolen, and there is currently no approved protection or deterrent offered by Honda to prevent this. Even after replacing it, the risk of it being stolen again remains very high. As a result, losing this sensor completely disables key Honda Sensing safety features, making the vehicle less safe to drive. On top of that, the replacement cost ranges from $1,500 to $3,000, despite the owner having no fault in the incident. The theft itself can be done in under two minutes. Overall, this design leaves the vehicle highly vulnerable, and it feels like Honda has not taken adequate steps to protect customers, while still leaving them responsible for costly repairs.

  • VISIBILITY/WIPER

    • The wipers do not distribute washer fluid at all to the passenger side of the windshield. The design of washer fluid distribution is terrible and this is obviously quite dangerous. • All vehicle occupants, and others outside the vehicle are at risk due to poor visibility that can occur when dirt/salt accumulate on the windshield and can't be wiped away properly and the driver cannot see clearly on 1/2 the windshield. • Yes. This is a known issue and just "By Design" • Many other CR-V (6th Generation) owners experience the same issue. Honda won't fix it. • No warning lights appear. This is a massive design flaw. Lastly: I have not seen an improvement of the design of the washer fluid distribution in subsequent models which leads me to believe that Honda may not properly address this issue until the next generation of CR-Vs. That said, many of us customers have been discussing how to solve this with aftermarket wiper fluid sprays since Honda is not fixing it for us.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The contact owns a 2024 Honda CR‑V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the safety sensor became inoperable with no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the sensor failure occurred during inclement rainy weather conditions. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.

  • STRUCTURE

While driving on the Interstate, the sunroof shattered. The middle section was completely shattered with glass remaining on the edges. I attempted to contain the remaining pieces by putting duct tape across the whole top. Further down the highway the entire sunroof blew off the vehicle. Not only was this frightening for me, it could have been a real hazard for anyone behind me. Luckily traffic was light and no one was driving directly behind.

  • STEERING

My 2024 Honda CRV was part of the recall for potential steering gearbox issues. Recall repair took place on 4/2/2025. Steering problem has persisted ("sticky steering") and when I had the steering checked today (5/6/2026) during a regular maintenance appointment, I was notified entire steering gearbox assembly should be replaced. Upon further research I discovered this is an ongoing issue 2023-2024 Honda models due to improperly assembled gearbox components. The recall repair included a new spring and additional grease to the worm gear. This was clearly insufficient and the recall should include complete replacement of the steering gearbox assembly with a properly manufactured unit. I have included via upload copies of the recall repair and diagnosis of the problem and associated cost from today's regular maintenance.

  • VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Driving using cruise control on interstate. Car in front of me exited. My car began to slow even though there was nothing in front of me but a slight incline. I pressed on the accelerator and the car continued to slow. I turned off the A/C and cruise, but the car continued to slow and came to a complete stop on the interstate. There was a semi-truck behind me. Cars were passing me. I put the car in park and turned off the car. I started the car back up and drove away. I was completely stopped on an interstate with construction barriers on each side of the lanes, so there was no shoulder to pull off on. I was fearful of getting in an accident or causing one. I was very scared for my safety. There were no warning lamps or messages to assist in the moment. I took my car into the dealership and explained what happened. Dealership checked the cruise control and said "test drove vehicle and cruise control operation is normal." They reset cruise control follow distance from closest to farthest and could not duplicate the concern. I am no longer using the cruise control because I feel it is a safety issue that was not addressed.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE

On April 25, 2026, while the vehicle was stopped at a red light on [XXX] , the vehicle suddenly became inoperable and displayed multiple warning messages and warning lights. The warning messages included “Brake System Problem” and “Auto Idle Stop System Problem.” Additional ABS/VSA, battery/electrical, and system warning lights were also displayed. The vehicle was occupied at the time, including children, and this created a serious safety concern on a major roadway because the vehicle could not be driven or safely moved under its own power. Police responded to the scene, Honda Roadside Assistance was contacted, and the vehicle was towed to an authorized Honda dealer. The suspected affected systems include the brake system, electrical system, battery/charging system, ABS/VSA system, Auto Idle Stop system, and related control modules. The vehicle is currently available for inspection at an authorized Honda dealer. The issue has not yet been fully diagnosed or confirmed by the dealer. The dealer advised that the battery may need to be replaced before diagnosis can continue. However, the battery may have discharged because the vehicle remained in a fault state with warning lights/system alerts active after the original brake/electrical failure. Therefore, the dead battery may be a consequence of the original failure, not necessarily the root cause. There were no known prior warning signs before this incident. The warning messages and lamps appeared at the time of the failure. A full diagnosis is pending. I am concerned that this brake/electrical/system failure could happen again while driving or stopped in traffic and create a safety risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • ENGINE

Vehicle has an "Engine Hot" warning and coolant loss, which creates a safety risk of stalling in traffic.

  • VISIBILITY/WIPER

I am reporting a significant safety concern regarding the windshield of my 2024 Honda CR-V. Under [Insert Typical Conditions, e.g., cold mornings / high humidity], a persistent, splotchy haze or "frosting" effect develops on the interior/exterior of the glass. The standard defrosting system and windshield wipers are unable to clear this obstruction effectively. This creates a dangerous loss of visibility, especially at highway speeds or in low-light conditions, forcing me to pull over until the glass clears. Additional Details: Failed Remedies: Attempts to clean the glass with standard automotive cleaners have not resolved the issue, suggesting a factory-related film or defect in the glass/HVAC integration. Safety Risk: The sudden onset of this frosting/haze while driving significantly increases the risk of a collision due to obscured forward vision. Manufacturer Contact: when I mention this to honda dealer. The dealer mentioned thats how its designed without a proper resolution
