2022 GMC Acadia owner complaints (15)
- POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
This vehicle was bought brand new and has received proper maintenance from one dealership since purchasing. I had to replace the thermostat and radiator before owning the vehicle three years. Within two years of owning the vehicle, my battery went out, which I thought seemed a little early. Then shortly after, I noticed that my locks weren’t engaging when I took my car out of park. Then my car wouldn’t even lock. When I tried to do it on the door control, nothing happened, then when I used my key to do it, it caused the alarm to go off and I couldn’t get it to stop. This resolved after a day, and then it rained again, and it started again. This time, my car wouldn’t unlock and I was trapped in my vehicle and had to open the trunk to get out. This is a known issue according to GMC with no fix. I took it to the dealer, and the codes were saying BCM and told it was being replaced but instead was “serviced”. This issue has begun again, and now I’m being told the locks are the issue and not the BCM, and that may not be covered under warranty. Not being able to get out of your vehicle or not being able to lock your car is a safety issue for passengers leaving them vulnerable to theft, someone entering their car while they’re in it and hurting them. I have had so many issues out of this vehicle and I do not believe I should have to pay for a repair that is a safety issue KNOWN TO THE COMPANY. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle now and it doesn’t even have 60k on it. So I’ve estimated on the date of the first incident and the new one just Happened this week. The information about this issue can be obtained from my dealership and GMC as it is a known issue with no real fix.
- ENGINE
UNKNOWN After diagnosis at the GMC dealership they stated that it is same issue as released in the following: Special Coverage Adjustments: N212356540 Front Exhaust Pipe N222385510 Special Coverage Front Exhaust Pipe However they CURRENTLY do not cover our GMC Acadia Model year 2022
- FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Acadia. The message "Front Assist Blocked" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a camera failure. The camera was replaced; however, the failure recurred while the contact was driving an hour later. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the repair could not be covered under the warranty because the warranty had expired; however, the contact stated that the warranty would expire in August. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE
purchased the vehicle in good faith, unaware that the check engine light was illuminated at the time of purchase and not informed that this indicated a serious mechanical or emissions-related issue. After purchase, the dealership repaired an emissions-related problem, and the check engine light was no longer present when the vehicle was returned to me. However, within three days of having the vehicle back in my possession, I began experiencing additional issues, including electrical malfunctions and abnormal noises coming from the front wheels. These problems caused the vehicle to feel unsafe to operate and raised serious concerns about its reliability and overall safety. Due to these concerns, I returned the vehicle to the dealership immediately.
- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Acadia. The vehicle was recently purchased, and at the time of purchase, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the emissions system had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, three days after the vehicle was picked up from the dealer, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the rotors and brakes had failed, and the lining for the front two wheels was damaged. In addition, the contact informed the dealer that all four windows failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the buttons to roll up or down the windows failed to operate as needed. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. The contact stated that when the radio was turned on, there was an abnormal sound coming from the radio. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact was provided a loaner vehicle. The contact sent an email to the manager at the dealer regarding the vehicle. The contact was offered assistance. The following day, an employee from the dealer reached out and informed the contact that no assistance would be provided and that if the rental was not returned, it would be reported as stolen. The contact stated that she was threatened after the employee realized that she had thought about filing a Lemon Law complaint. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Vehicle has an ongoing water leak, has been to the dealer twice so far. Both times said it was fixed.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
No specific incident. High pitch rattling in ceiling. Does not seem to be coming from the sunroof but the middle light fixture.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The rear view camera fails to function intermittently and is occurring at a higher rate of frequency. On numerous occasions when the vehicle is put in reverse the screen goes black with a red triangle caution symbol and a white camera crossed out. Now the system is unavailable more then operational. Based on the drivers rear vision when backing in this particular vehicle, the lack of the rear camera view increases the risk of crash. This also increases the risk of severe injury to a pedestrian behind the vehicle. The same issues were addressed on earlier models via a safety recall which should be extended to 2023 model.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Message with “steering assist reduced, drive with care” pops up on the screen. The temperature gauge drops to on the cold side. After you shut off the car the fan will run for 10 minutes trying to “cool” the car. The temperature cannot regulate.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I have a faulty coolant temperature sensor or thermostat in which the fan is running loudly and temperature gauge is not working
- STEERING,ENGINE,LANE DEPARTURE
The “Steering assist reduced” message came on and, when shut off, the fan blows very hard and loud.
- UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Coolant temperature gauge stops working and shows cold temperature reading. The radiator fan runs for about 2 minutes as if the engine is overheating. I think it's a temperature sensor issue or thermostat issue or both.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
Multiple times an alert has been given for "Driver assist temporarily reduced, drive cautiously". Additionally, the check engine light has come on, with codes for the cooling system. Cooling system fan (HVAC Blower) remains on after shutting off vehicle for anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Coolant levels have been checked and are correct. Heat & AC function, however the thermostat gauge on the instrument panel does not read any temperature at all. At this time, the vehicle has not been taken to the dealership for assessment due to financial constraints.
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The entire dashboard instrument panel and entertainment screens frequently go black on 2022 ACADIA. This occurs intermittently several times per week and has occurred since purchase in Nov 2024.
- ENGINE,LANE DEPARTURE
Electronic thermostat fails. Which causes steering assistance reduced drive with care to illuminate. Temperature gauge drops to cold. Air conditioning no longer operates.
