2014 Dodge Durango recalls (11)

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake booster shield, correcting the installation as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November10, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T59.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014 Dodge Challenger, Charger, Durango, Chrysler 300, and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with a 3.6L engine and a 160 amp alternator. In the affected vehicles, the alternator may suddenly fail.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the alternator, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T75.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will add a water diverter shield to the booster after the booster has been tested to confirm it can hold an acceptable amount of vacuum pressure. If the booster inspection confirms an unacceptable loss of vacuum pressure, the booster will be replaced. Repairs will be made free of charge. The recall began on May 30, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's recall campaign number is P14.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will re-flash the Driver Assistance System Module (DASM), free of charge. The recall began in June 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P31.

Due to a fault within the Occupant Restraint Control (OCR) module, the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags may be disabled. 2014 Dodge Durango owner complaints (15)

  • SEATS

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the front passenger’s side head restraint unexpectedly deployed and struck the front seat passenger in the back of the head. There was no crash or impact at the time of the failure. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the passenger had a prior surgery involving the neck and back of the head and believed that the impact might have aggravated that issue. No medical assistance was sought. The front seat passenger had pain and discomfort and had been resting since the issue. The vehicle was drivable and was not towed. The dealer was notified of the failure and was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to offer assistance for the repair. The vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 99,300.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS

Airbag service light has come on and upon reading appears to be a major issue among any 2014 dodge durango with the vin starting with 1C4RD…. But not on a recall. Appears to be a bad OCR. Unsure why other Chrysler made vehicles known with this issue were recalled but not the 2014 dodge durangos Very concerning that the airbags won’t deploy if in an accident

  • EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Water leaks into and pools in the tail lights causing the tail light to go out. Other drivers can't see the back of the car at night thus increasing risk of rear end collision. The problem was confirmed by the dealer and I was told that it is a very common problem on this model and that the manufacturer refuses to cover the $1600.00 repair cost. There were no warnings that the light had gone out, so this is very dangerous because it's possible that you drive around for many months without realizing that your tail light is not working.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Dodge Durango. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy per a Carfax report. The contact stated that due to the mileage discrepancy, the buying price was significantly lower. At the time of purchase per the title, the vehicle mileage was 37,783., However, the Carfax report stated that the mileage was 200,434 on 02/2024, and on 06/28/2024.

  • EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The rear racetrack light on the lift gate, right side leaks when it rains, car wash, snow and has shorted out part of the light strip.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

I was coming out of a drive thru car wash and driving towards an intersection with Rail road tracks on the road getting ready to turn left going 15 to 20 mph. As I turned my vehicle began skidding causing me to loose control and hitting 2 vehicles head on . I believe if my traction control (stability control) system or abs were functioning correctly this could have been avoided.

  • AIR BAGS,SEATS

On February 6, 2026, while driving my 2014 Dodge Durango at normal speed, the driver’s seat headrest suddenly and unexpectedly deployed/exploded, striking the back of my head. The force of the impact caused my head to snap forward, resulting in soft-tissue and muscle injuries to my neck and upper back. I sought medical evaluation following the incident and was diagnosed with soft-tissue injury/whiplash. Treatment has included diagnostic imaging, prescription medication, and follow-up care for ongoing symptoms. I was able to continue driving the vehicle directly to a Dodge dealership, where staff confirmed that the headrest had exploded. This is the second headrest failure on this vehicle caused by a defective plastic component; the passenger-side headrest failed previously in August 2023. The vehicle is unsafe to operate until the headrest is replaced. Due to the part being out of stock, the repair is expected to take more than two months. Prior to this incident, the only indication of a problem was a letter sent by Dodge in August 2020 stating that the warranty on this part was extended from 3 years to 10 years due to a known defect. Given the repeated failures and risk of injury, this condition represents a safety defect that should have been addressed through a recall.

  • STEERING,SEATS

    1. Active Head Rest Inadvertent Deployment Driver's side 2. seat warmers and steering wheel warmer won't turn off unless vehicle is turned off and on again.

  • SERVICE BRAKES

My 2014 Dodge Durango’s VIN is not listed as impacted by Safety Recall P14/NHTSA 14V-154. However, my vehicle is showing symptoms that match the problem described for that recall. I am requesting an investigation to determine if more VINs than originally impacted are affected by the problem described under the recall. System message code C0021-02 brake booster general failure has been displaying on my vehicle when the outside temperature is below freezing because water has seeped into the booster and is freezing which is compromising boost enough to cause the sensor to set the warning message. Given the risk of brake failure I have no choice but to arrange for the repair immediately. I will keep the replaced brake booster in case the investigation resulted in opening up the recall to more VINs. Please advise of any other measures I should take.

  • SEATS

    Active Head Rest Inadvertent Deployment

  • SEAT BELTS

The passenger side seatbelt retractor broke, will not release seat belt at all. I am aware that NHTSA did testing in this particular year and model, and some are covered and some are not included in the recall, to be determined by the last 8 digits of the vin #. I wish to dispute that my particular vehicle SHOULD be included in the recall. I can prove it is broken, a manufacturing defect. This is a MAJOR safety concern. I wish for an exception to the validity on the testing that was done on your end, which was found to only be an issue on certain “batches”. Apparently, this is a defect and should be repaired as soon as possible and I should not be charged. I can no longer drive this vehicle as long as I have a person in the passenger side. In case of an accident, because I was aware of this defective part in my Dodge Durango, I could personally be held responsible for anything that happens to my passenger and also for any repairs that happened as a result of the decision made by HHTSA, to pick and choose only particular “vin numbers”on the same make and year of the the 2014 Dodge Durrango. I ask for a reversal on this previously made decision. And to make dodge take care of the replacement of the part necessary and labor. It clearly IS a manufacturing defect, no matter what “batch” was decided as defective

  • FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

    Fuel pump and wiring issues

  • Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness

After the straps are tightened, the child can push the straps and they become loose. The straps do not stay tight and locked in like they're supposed to.

  • POWER TRAIN

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the transmission was slipping while shifting to second gear, and the vehicle lost motive power and failed to respond with the RPM elevated. The message to “Shift to Park and Restart” was displayed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.

  • AIR BAGS,SEATS

While stopped at a stop sign, the passenger headrest airbag deployed.
