AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, and 2016 Chevrolet Volt vehicles. The driver's frontal air bag may improperly inflate during second-stage deployment in the event of a high speed crash.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag module, free of charge. The recall began November 8, 2017. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 17387.
AIR BAGS
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured January 6, 2014, to October 1, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the driver air bag connections may have been wired incorrectly. This could reverse the deployment sequence and disrupt the deployment timing of the driver air bag. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM), free of charge. The recall began on October 6, 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet) or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14690.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured January 6, 2014, to April 1, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the hooks that secure the driver's and/or front passenger's seat frame may not have been properly attached to the vehicle body during assembly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems."
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seats, correcting their installation as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on June 2, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15150.
STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles manufactured January 6, 2015, to March 17, 2015, and 2015 GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured January 6, 2015, to March 19, 2015. A poor electrical connection within the steering gear connector may cause a loss of power steering assist.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear torque sensor cover assembly, free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15595.
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:CALIPER
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured January 6, 2014, to December 24, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience the front brake calipers leaking brake fluid. This is due to air pockets, an imperfection in the metal caliper body.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the front-brake calipers if necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 9, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14888.
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles manufactured September 15, 2014, to January 21, 2015, and 2015 GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured October 3, 2014, to December 9, 2014. The affected vehicles have a front driver air bag inflator that may be misaligned to the air bag module backplate. This can cause the inflator to separate from the backplate during a deployment.
Remedy: GM has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the driver air bag module inflator for proper alignment, replacing the air bag, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 19, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15037.
STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles. The power steering assist may be lost due to a poor electrical connection within the steering gear assembly.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace steering gear torque sensor cover assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 6, 2021. - STEERING
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. The power steering failure warning light illuminated. The contact, who was a retired certified mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle with an electronic power steering gear unit failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with electronic power steering gear unit failure. The contact was informed that the part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Since i've had my truck the passenger seat vibrates excessively while driving; the oil alert comes on even when there is oil, current oil change; seems to not have power, shifts hard. What's interesting is that these items come up when I searched on recalls. this truck is not driven hard... mehanic cant figure out what is causing the oil alert, the passenger seat shaking excessively.. and there is a recall on You Tube Truck was purchased in [XXX], 07/15 have lived in [XXX] since 11/15. This is unacceptable INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that they discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 193,073. The contact began having unknown issues with the vehicle and obtained a Carfax report. The report indicated the vehicle was due for an oil change. The report indicated the mileage was 292,500. The Birmingham police department was contacted and referred him to the NHTSA hotline.

Will be driving and suddenly my EPS light turns on and doesn’t allow me to turn. I have sudden loss of power assist, making the steering wheel incredibly heavy to turn. Once I pull over to safety and fully turn the truck off and back on, I can generally make it to my destination as the sensor temporarily goes off. It appears there have been recalls for this, but my specific VIN was not included in the recall for some reason. Ultimately, this is extremely dangerous as I have a pretty busy route to/from work. This all randomly started happening two days ago. I am working to schedule an appointment with a local mechanic, but hoping to be included in the recall because it sounds exactly like what was happening in the recall.
- STEERING,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Service Power Steering light would illuminate and the power steering would fail. The contact would have to pull to the side of the road, turn off the vehicle, and wait a while in order to reset the vehicle's computer system and re-activate the power steering. The traction control, stability, track, and service 4-Wheel Drive warning lights were illuminated as well. The vehicle was taken to 3 different certified mechanics, who were not able to diagnose and repair the vehicle. The steering wheel was recalibrated by a mechanic; however, the failure remained persistent. The manufacturer was informed, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in any recall. The failure mileage was 115,225.

Lose his power steering while driving down the road. System says needs work on ABS when you hit a bump the radio changes itself. The anti-theft is on when key is in ignition and going down the road it's saying it's theft mode service engine light is on even after servicing the engine

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, the message "Service Power Steering - Drive with Care" was displayed. The contact used excessive force to pull over, waited for several minutes, and then restarted the vehicle. The vehicle resumed normal operation after being restarted; however, the failure returned once the contact reached the driveway at the residence. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V213000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact scheduled an appointment and drove the vehicle to the dealer to be repaired. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and retrieved DTC: C0545; indicating a failure within the Steering Wheel Torque Sensor of the electric power steering (EPS) system. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired under the recall prior to the contact owning the vehicle. The contact was then informed that no additional assistance would be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering assist functionality. The message "Loss of Power Steering Assist - Danger - Have Unit Serviced" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who retrieved DTC: C0545. The mechanic had not yet informed the contact of what part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V213000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact owned a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven and parked in the garage. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact noticed an abnormal burning smell and smoke coming from under the hood. It was unknown whether a warning had illuminated. The contact opened the hood and noticed that the engine compartment had caught on fire. The contact closed the hood and attempted to restart the vehicle to drive out of the garage; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact shifted to neutral(N) and was able to push the vehicle out of the garage. The contact stated that the vehicle burned significantly from the front end to the windshield. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. No fire department report was filed. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. There was no property damage. The contact stated that the vehicle was a total loss and was in the process of being towed to a salvage yard. The vehicle did not have full insurance coverage but had liability coverage. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

my truck lost steering 3 times already and i brought to dealership twice with them telling it can't be fixed! first tine jan of 2024 and also jan of this year

lost steering twice while driving, brought truck to dealer and they put it on there computer and reprogramed and worked for a little while and it went again. costing me 120 dollars for the to program it.

Intermittent loss of power steering while driving and at start up. Warning indicators flash "Service Power Steering Drive With Care" and "Service Stabilitrak." Most of the time, when you turn off the truck and turn it back on again, the message will clear and all will be fine again. However, a week or two will go by and it happens again. The last time it happened, it would not clear right away. Finally, it did the next day. GM says there was a recall on my truck that was repaired for this problem but I'm seeing a lot of people online still having problems. This is very dangerous because I cannot physically steer the truck when the power steering goes out. I'm very concerned that me or my teenage son who drives it is going to get in a serious accident.

Had safety recall for loss of power steering repair done in November of 2021. First incident: Leaving a grocery store parking lot, loss of power steering made the steering nearly impossible at low speeds. Message on display said to have steering serviced and dinged. Had a tow truck come and take it to the same dealership that did the repair. Low voltage code was reset, power steering was returned. Dealership wanted $2.3k to repair. Second incident: One month later, pulling out of my driveway when the same message displayed and the dash dinged. Had a tow truck take it to a different repair shop, same issue, same resolution. $2.4k repair. I declined both repairs.
